Reciprocating seals are mainly applied to hydraulic cylinders or hydraulic actuators. Generally, the performance evaluation methods should be based on GB/T 32217—2015 standard while some debatable deficiencies are still existing in the standard, such as missing of a schematic diagram for piston seal testing devices. Through contrastive analyses and based on practical application experience, some possible deficiencies in the above mentioned standard were pointed out, some modification suggestions were proposed according to other national standards including GB/T 35023—2018 and JB/T 10205—2010.For example, a schematic diagram of a test device was proposed to assess the performance of seals in oil hydraulic reciprocating applications to improve GB/T 32217—2015 standard.
