The numerical simulation of cutting performance of the micro texture YG8 cemented carbide cutting tools was conducted by DEFORM 3D software and the change of cutting temperature and stress of YG8 cemented carbide cutting tools with the groove micro texture was analyzed for pit micro texture and nonmicro texture, respectively. The laser machining technology was used to process the micro texture on the surface of YG8 cemented carbide cutting tools. The aluminum alloy was cut by the micro texture YG8 cemented carbide cutting tools to analyze the effect of micro texture on cutting performance. Based on the experimental results, it could be concluded that the micro texture cutting tools produce less cutting heat and the friction between the tools and the chips is much lower. The micro texture tools could have better cutting performance with a certain lubrication.
