Abstract:Aiming at the difficulty of analyzing and solving accurately of Numerical Control (NC) turning process through traditional analytic method, analyzing the NC turning process was proposed by using the thermo-mechanical elastic deformation finite element method (FEM), and the key technology of it was discussed. Experiments prove that this method can efficiently simulate the distribution condition of non-uniform stress field, strain field and temperature field of the workpieces, cutter and cuttings, which is effected by the action of thermo-mechanical coupling in metal work process. It provides the theoretical basis for the intensive study of metal-cutting principle, predicting cutting force, optimizing cutting parameters and improving processing technics, and so on.
