Abstract:By analysis of the influence of toolchip friction coefficient on residual stresses simulations at the surface of machined workpiece based on AdvantEdge FEM,an inverse approach to determine toolchip friction coefficient is proposed by combining the measured cutting forces with the established empirical model of cutting forces with tool geometry parameters, cutting parameters and friction coefficient, in order to improve the accuracy of the simulated residual stress distribution. The simulation experimental results show that, compared with the AdvantEdge FEM default friction coefficient and average coulomb friction coefficient, the residual stresses simulated with the proposed calculated friction coefficient of turning 45# steel workpiece are in better agreement with the experimental data.
