Abstract:According to the control requirements of a new multimode verticalspindle grinder, a numerical control system was designed in which a FX2N PLC was as the control center and a GT1000 touch screen as HMI. With two 10PG orientation modules, a manual pulse generator and two servo drives, Xaxis servo motor and Yaxis servo motor, the manual operation mode, step grinding mode, continuous grinding mode, round grinding mode were achieved as well as the segmented grinding mode during the working process. Accurate positioning, automatic compensation and dressing of the wheel were also proved. Test results show that the control system is stable and reliable with an improvement of production efficiency. The design process of the control system including the hardware and software was introduced in detail.
