In view of the difficulty of the application of freeform surfaces in various fields and its machining, a freeform surface tool path optimization of milling method was presented. Combined with milling mechanism, a minimum of machining force was used in the evaluation path method, and simulation examples were used to illustrate the effectiveness of the method. It provides a viable tool path optimization method for the freeform surface machining.
