Abstract:To overcome the defects and deficiencies in handhammered on copper, a machining method based on numerical control technology was proposed. ArtCAM was used to build a threedimensional relief model. The threedimensional data of relief was saved which was processed basing on ductility coefficient of copper. At the same time, the geometric contours was carved on copper using CNC milling cutter. The tool path of CNC milling cutter was designed according to twodimensional image.Combined the threedimensional data with the mechanical forging equipment, the copper was struck from the border to center. During the striking, the forging depth was controlled by the feedback data of laser distance measuring sensor which is high speed and high precision. Experimental results show that this method reduces the labor intensity effectively and shorten the processing time of copper relief greatly.
