As the main part of selective laser melting (SLM) equipment, forming cylinder transmission feeds system static and dynamic characteristics is the key factor influencing the accuracy of spreading powder of SLM. Its structure determines directly the static and dynamic characteristics of the system, so it is necessary to design and analyze the structure of the system. Finite element software ANSYS was used as a tool to analyze the static and dynamic characteristics of the forming cylinder transmission feeds system with finite element method (FEM). Influences of bearing method of single screw with or without guide rod and installation position of screw on the feed drive system were analyzed. The results show that the transmission feed system has the best static and dynamic characteristics when screw mounted right under the forming cylinder with guide rod. In addition, influence of technical spreading powders pressure on the system is studied.
