A new set of fundamental equations for geometric relationships of hypoid gear drive's pitch parameters were established and proposed. Based on these formulas, the new calculation methods were proposed for pitch cone design of hypoid gear drive, calculation of gear tooth surface forming, and calculation of pinion tooth surface forming. The machining parameters of gear and the optimization design of tooth surface can be obtained by using this new algorithm easily.
