A type of spring force locking pneumatic clamping device was introduced．In this device, the functions of charging/discharging of conventional pneumatic fixtures were exchanged, the work piece was fastened by the clamping spring instead of pneumatic〖JP〗 force．The structure, operation principle, design essentials as well as features of the device were expatiated．Analysis and contrast towards traditional pneumatic fixtures were implemented．The new style pneumatic clamping device owns the advantages as high reliability and safety,etc.，which is especially suitable for equipment upgrading of machining factories with general production conditions．
