Abstract:Selected the mechanical spindle as the research object, software of HyperMesh and Abaqus based on finite element method (FEM) were used to study the thermal characteristics of the mechanical spindle. Based on determining the boundary conditions of thermal analysis and calculating the heat value of belt pulley and bearing, the steadystate thermal, and the variation of temperature as well as the distribution of temperature field were obtained through calculating the mechanical spindle’〖KG-*2〗s finite element model. Results shows that the experimental data of temperature and simulation result reach a good agreement, which means that the FEM can predict mechanical spindle temperature changes accurately,and the heat value of belt pulley in mechanical spindle can not be ignored. According to the thermal deformation analysis, the mechanical spindle has a small deformation, which proves the structural design is reasonable.
