By analyzing the transmission characteristics of involute gear, it was found that the reason for the transmission return difference of precision gear was that the gear center distance was changed. The main and secondary factors causing the transmission return difference were analyzed,and the theoretical formula calculating the transmission return difference of precision gear was derived. The correctness of the theoretical formula was verified by transmission return difference experiment.
