In order to solve the problems of electrode wire breakage, tension force unbalance and unadjustable in the wire winding process of middle-speed WEDM machine, a mechanism for wire winding was designed, which combines wire winding with wire tightening. The mechanism improves the efficiency of winding, balances the tension force of electrode wire and improves the cutting stability of the machine tool. The results show that the mechanism improves the efficiency of winding by more than 60% and improves the machining quality of the parts significantly.
