In order to solve the low efficiency problem of machining spiral bevel gears in NC (Numerical Control) machining center, a machining method of end milling spiral bevel gears with the application of disk milling cutter is presented. According to the geometric characteristics of the tooth surface and tool, the relative position of the cutter and workpiece tooth surface is adjusted to make the relative normal curvature of tooth surface and the cutter envelope surface normal section a minimum, increasing the cutting width and controlling the cutter axis vector to adjust the cutting depth to avoid interfering. Finally, the planned cutter location is transformed to the axis of NC machine tool, and the feasibility and correctness of this method are verified by using VERICUT.
