An experimental system of motorized spindle supported by five degreeoffreedom (5DOF) active magnetic bearings was built up. The influences of fuzzy adaptive ProportionIntegrationDifferential (PID) and incomplete differential PID control strategies on dynamic characteristics of the system were analyzed separately by MATLAB toolbox. The hardware circuit of digital controller based on TMS320F28335DSP were designed and made, corresponding control software of fuzzy adaptive PID and incomplete differential PID were programmed, and the tests of high speed rotation of the system were completed. Rotating precision and vibration at the same frequency of the motorized spindle supported by active magnetic bearings under two kinds of control strategies were compared and researched. The research results show that the using of fuzzy adaptive PID control strategy can improve the stability and rotating precision of the motorized spindle supported by active magnetic bearings.
