In order to more convenient and more accurate simulate the dynamic characteristics of linear rolling guide, using of virtual medium layer was proposed to establish the dynamic model of the joint of linear rolling guide. Hertz contact theory and the experience formula of Palmgren were used to derive out the parsed solution of nvirtual parameters of virtual medium layer, such as the material properties and thickness. Then, the obtained parameters were imported into ANSYS to begin the finite element modal (FEM) analysis. The FEM analysis and experiment modal analysis were compared in the first six order natural frequency and the corresponding formation. Comparison results show that the natural frequency of the FEM analysis and test results of relative error is between -25%~93%, which verifies the effectiveness of the method of modeling of virtual meduim, and lays the foundation for the whole machine of the numercial control (NC) machine tool for further dynamics modeling.
