Abstract:Based on Deform3D software platform, a three-dimensional (3-D) finite element model (FEM) by aiming at the thin walled composite row of large gear ring was established, and then the turning process under different cutting parameters was simulated, the cutting force distribution and temperature fields in the cutting process were derived. By analyzing the change rule of cutting force and cutting heat in different cutting parameters, it was gotten that the cutting depth and feed affected much to the cutting force, while the influence of cutting speed on cutting heat was greater than that of cutting depth and feed. The research result has laid the foundation for further optimization of cutting parameters and machining deformation control.
