Abstract:The simulation of the cutting process is substantially to use finite element method (FEM) to solve nonlinear problems. The finite element model of Titanium (Ti) alloy components milling process was established, and the rule of chip separation was determined based on material damage theory. By using the research results of others proposed, the finite element model was constructed to solve the cutting temperature field and cutting force. The finite element software ABAQUS / Explicit was used to conduct modeling, material inputs, parts assembly, local subdivision mesh and motion simulation, and etc. The common rules between cutting temperature, force and cutting parameters were derived through simulation and calculation for cutting process of Ti alloy. The results show that the simulation results are consistent with the actual production results.
