A precise measurement was taken to the RV40E speed cycloidal gear by using a three coordinate machine. The coordinate parameter of the cycloidal gear was gained, which were taken arc fitting by using least square method, and combining the gained cycloidal tooth shape and the cycloidal tooth shape by calculation from the equation, whch were contrasted with the real tooth shape of the precise measured cycloid. The different tooth morphology characteristics gained by both methods of arc fitting and tooth shape calculation equations were analyzed. And the working life and accuracy were verified through a trial cycloid. The results show that the working life and the accuracy of the cycloidal wheel are all up to the standards, and the tooth shape calculated by equation is more practical.
