The types, principles, advantages and disadvantages, and application conditions of the precision speed reducer used in industrial robots were introduced. The information of main manufacturers in this industry both from home and abroad were summarized. Based on the comparison of the key technical indicators of typical brands of precision speed reducer, the technological gaps of speed reducer between ones from home and abroad were analyzed. The suggestions are given for future research and development, and manufacturing of the precision speed reducer in China.
