Abstract:Due to the over high hardness of titanium (Ti) alloy, the cutting and processing are very difficult, and the costs are huge, even if consuming significant processing cost of the products, the processing quality are often unsatisfactory. Hence, on the basis of studying the latest results of domestic and foreign electric discharge machining (EDM) technology, Ti alloy EDM experiments were designed. The cutting speed and threedimensional (3D) surface roughness were as the index to evaluate the performance of the processing, after analyzed the law of influences of the duty ratio, peak current and voltage to the Ti alloy processing, technology feature of EDM forming process for Ti alloy was studied in depth. Then, the BP neural network was used to establish the parameters optimization model for the EDM processing with the R2007b MATLAB software as a platform. The prediction results are evaluated by processing experiments.
