Abstract:A new gear called sextuplearc gear was designed, which tooth profile has six work arcs, and three convex arcs were located above on pitch line, three concave arcs were located under pitch line. Every two work arcs were connected by transition arc. Sextuplearc gear had six meshing points on a single tooth, loads were dispersed in the six meshing points. Compare with the doublearc gear, sextuplearc gear had more carrying capacity. Finite element models of doublearc gear and sextuplearc gear were also established. The results of finite element method confirm that sextuplearc gear tooth contact stress is 20% lower than that of the doublearc gear.
