Abstract:Dry turning of titanium alloy(TC4) was performed with fine grain cemented carbide cutters. The macromicro structure, cutting force and surface roughness were measured by using OM, tool microscope (XGJ1), scanning electron microscopy(S3400N), dynamometer (YDCⅢ 89B) and portable roughness tester (TR100), respectively. The results show that stripserration of chip evolution, decreasing trend of cutting force, slow increase of flank wear and declining of surface roughness are found with the increase of cutting speed. The inherent cause is the low conductive coefficient and elasticity modulus, high chemical activity of titanium alloy.
