Accumulators, as an auxiliary power source, are widely used in hydraulic system. The impact of the expansibility of hydraulic working medium to the system is usually negligible. However, in the case of a large temperature difference, the destruction that caused by the working medium's volume expansion cannot be ignored. An actual engineering case was analyzed, aiming at revealing the reason of the hydraulic cylinder trunnion's fracture failure due to the working medium's volume expansion in high and low temperature environmental test. Meanwhile, the design of the hydraulic system was optimized as well.
