Abstract:To solve the problem of multicutting wire electrode disturbance caused by working fluid and poor debris removal in high speedwire electricaldischarge machining (HSWEDM), firstly, based on the analysis of current study status of gap flow and debris removal in gap, adjustable jet flow is studied theoretically. The influences of the convergence angle and widthradius ratio of nozzle on pressure different between inner and outer of jet flow were discussed. Then, combined with the characteristics of multicutting in HSWEDM, a liquid supply technology of multicutting in WEDM based on adjustable jet was presented. The adjustable jet nozzle was designed in structure and simulated so as to realize reducing of working fluid disturbing wire electrode, increasing working fluid in gap, accelerating wire electrode cooling and debris removal. Finally the goal of improving multicutting efficiency and stability is achieved.
