Abstract:A special equipment is devised used for fruit pit carving, which is different from the ordinary numerical control (NC) machine tool, but uses the parallel mechanism. The six bar linkage was used through the slider driven platform produce various degrees of freedom (DOF) of motion, to control engraving pen of fruit pit carving. The each connecting rod was driven by stepping motor, and through the Windows environment of software programming and motion controller, the control of the whole engraving system was realized. At the same time, the fruit pit is different from the common workpiece, for it is irregular in shape and fragile in texture, hence during the design of the carving machine, a special fixture is also devised.
